With 6 grades above it and 4 below it, the E was sort of Lefever’s middle-grade side by side. Son Frank Lefever went to Moundsville, West Virginia, and became plant superintendant of the Three-Barrel Gun Co. By mid-1905, the company name was changed to D.M. By late 1903 they left New York, and were set up and operating in Defiance, Ohio, still as D.M. There are guns with serial numbers clear down in the 38000 range that were finished up and sold with an Ithaca address. double by the serial number is very iffy. ![]() Then in 1921, Ithaca introduced their lower priced line of Lefever guns, beginning with the Lefever Nitro Special double or Model 1.ĭating a Lefever Arms Co. ![]() was in Syracuse, New York, until Ithaca Gun Co., through a shell corporation, bought them out in early 1916 and moved the machinery and inventory to Ithaca, NY, where they continued to finish up and sell "real" Lefever doubles until about 1919.
